Use real research-grade instruments and data to investigate objects like super-nova remnants and distant star clusters. One small step as a space explorer, one giant step in launching your career in space.
Mission Control Camp: Martian Frontier

Gain confidence, learn space science, and strive to make it to Mars in this combination role-play—academic camp. The wide variety of topics makes this camp a good fit for a range of interests. You’ll tackle challenges in space craft and habitat design, astronaut health and well-being, and capturing public interest while swaying others to support your plan.
Clemson & PARI Summer Camps
Milky Way Trailblazers:
-Map the Milky Way and plot a path for future explorers!
Discover how to chart the distribution of hydrogen gas and its movement in our home galaxy as a galactic cartographer. Secrets of a Spy Station
Encrypted messages, codes, and ciphers!
What better setting than PARI, which once operated as a spy station for the Department of Defense during the Cold War, where messages were being intercepted and deciphered? Another element in the sending of secrets is how you transport them from place to place. We’ll take a look at the technologies, both past and present, that allow information to zip out to distant satellites and back down to Earth. How do we make sure our sensitive transmissions don’t end up in the wrong hands?
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Scholarships may be available for families with financial need. Email - camps[AT]pari.edu for more information.
OTHER CAMP INFO: Campers from every state and beyond are welcome at PARI.
Come learn how different telescopes work, and use them and real data to explore space just like professional scientists do. Or learn how crucial computer science is to space exploration when you dive into cryptography and satellite communications. If mission control calls to you, come plan your own mission to another planet, your trajectory, crew and rocket at the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute's Space Exploration Camps.
PARI Space Exploration Camps is a unique site, rich in space science history, and is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, where an abundance of adventures await. From tubing to waterfall swimming and roller skating, there are fun, refreshing activities for everyone.
Partnering with PARI to host some of these camps is Clemson University for our second year in a row! This partnership has expanded the reach of PARI camps to even more kids nationwide and include field trips to their campus and the opportunity to learn about their higher learning offerings.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: City Ballet was founded in 1991 with the philosophy of encouraging musicality, fostering creative expression, and teaching an appreciation of dance’s form and aesthetic. Its goal is to enable all students to experience the joy of dance and performance while attaining professional technique and style. Since its inception, City Ballet has been dedicated to training students in the Cecchetti Syllabus of classical ballet and remains the singular facility offering this method in the Triangle.
Classes are offered in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. Additionally, numerous workshops are presented to expose students to different dance genres beyond the classical curriculum. City Ballet offers students the opportunity to perform in two full-length productions each year - The Nutcracker by audition and a spring recital.
The school also participates in festivals and workshops. Some of the most recent stage appearances include those at The American Heart Association’s Triangle Heart Ball, Festival of North Carolina Dance, AT&T’s Winterfest and Lafayette Village's Tree Lighting.
Preschool Dance is the beginning of a lifetime of dance appreciation. It is the essence of using imagination and exploration as building blocks for a dance foundation. Students focus on gross motor skills (skipping, hopping and jumping) through musicality and movement. City Ballet pays special attention to the needs and abilities of preschoolers by using theme-based lesson plans full of meaningful play. For more information, please visit Our Camp Website Link: city-ballet.com.

Evenings offer resident campers the opportunity to enjoy evening meals together, lively fun worship, night swims, camp wide games of capture the flag, the Amazing Race, Home in the Woods, a talent show, pool party, and an end of session celebration full of skits, songs, stories, and praise. We want to partner with you as parents to develop and preserve practices of faith that strengthen and uplift the campers and in turn, each camper's family, church, school, and community. A summer camp experience built on excellence and quality remains vitally important for children and youth, providing them with space and time apart where they learn about themselves, their peers, and life in the Christian community.

▌Read More about Dead Broke Farm
CAMP FACILITIES: Dead Broke Farm has beautiful, wooded trails and is home to more than 35 horses and lots of other farm animals. Campers have access to an air conditioned clubhouse, jungle gym, and the shaded horse hitching area.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Dead Broke Farm has been offering horseback riding camp since 2006 and have subsequently hired mature teenage guides who attended our camp as 5 year-olds! We strive to nurture kids' love of animals and the outdoors and welcome their continued patronage in our riding lessons and trail riding programs till they are old enough to become a volunteer or paid staff member.
We have lots of farm animals to see and enjoy including horses, ponies, dogs, cats, cows, sheep, goats, donkeys, and more. The list varies but there are always lots of animals to enjoy and learn about.
Our core focus is on the horseback riding. But when they aren't riding, they can watch videos in the air conditioned club house, play foosball, play on the jungle gym, or help the guides as they go about caring for our horses and other animals. On given days, we will also take them to: 1) visit the cows, alpacas, donkeys, and other animals, 2) see the puppies available at that time, 3) see the pond and the horses in the more remote pastures, or 4) to pick blackberries or blueberries (dependent upon their availability during the week your child attends camp).
And if parents want to join their kids out on the trails, we offer a $10 discount to parents while their kids are attending camp. It's a fun family experience, and it allows the kids to show off how much they've leaned during their week at camp.
FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Any age can attend our camp provided you are at least 5 years old or older. We've had mothers and grandmothers attend camp with their kids - not because they had to - but because they wanted to experience the horse camp together. This is a great option for out-of-state situations or instances where the Mom or Grandmother enjoy riding as much as the kids.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Dead Broke Farm offers guided trail rides, birthday parties, pony rides, and lessons year-round for all ages. Kids and adults are welcome to ride with us.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Founded in 2014 by Austin parents Allan and Heather Staker, Brain Chase is the product of his filmmaking/tech background and her online education expertise. They are both Harvard-educated and their 5 children were the inspiration behind the creation of this revolutionary new summer program
Brain Chase is a 6-week summer learning challenge disguised as a massive global treasure hunt for 2nd−8th graders. A golden globe has been buried somewhere on earth – and it contains the key to a safe deposit box holding a $10,000 college scholarship fund. Participants who complete an hour of online summer learning activities each day will unlock secret animated webisodes that hold the clues to the globe’s whereabouts. Guess the treasure’s location first, and you’ll be the one on a plane to dig it up.
Enrollment is limited to the first 5,000 entrants.
Kickoff is June 30. Last registration July 18.
- See more at: Our Camp Website Link: brainchase.com
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Additional children from same household are half off for each registration.
OTHER CAMP INFO: You spend 10 months of every year in school, but much of that hard work likely vanishes during summer break. Who wants to do boring worksheets when school’s out? Brain Chase is a summer enrichment program that’s FUN. Action-packed animations, mysterious packages in the mail, and the hunt for buried treasure turn learning into an adventure. It’s FLEXIBLE. You’ll do the challenge when you want, where you want, and at your own pace. And it’s CUSTOMIZED. You get to work at your own level. - See more at: Our Camp Website Link: brainchase.com

CAMPER AGES: 6-16
TYPE OF CAMP: Overnight/Sleepaway.
CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.
AFFILIATION(S): Christian. YMCA.
BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: YMCA Camp Harrison is a co-ed overnight camp for kids 6 - 16 located just 90 miles from Charlotte in the mountains of North Carolina. Whether they are digging in the creek, mountain boarding or water trampoline-ing on the lake, kids here discover their competence, make friends and grow in the majesty of God's nature and presence.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Dance, Fine Arts/Crafts, Basketball, Football, Baseball, Soccer, Golf, Horses/Equestrian, Swimming, Waterfront/Aquatics, Sailing, Adventure, Wilderness/Nature, and more.
CAMP LOCATION: YMCA Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge is located on a spectacular tract of land in the Brushy Mountains of North Carolina located between Lenoir and North Wilkesboro just 90 minutes from Charlotte, N.C. There are more than 2,000 acres of woods, streams, and trails centered around private, 140-acre Lake Broyhill.
▌Read More about Camp Harrison
CAMP FACILITIES: Our 12 log cabins sleep people bunk style. All have air conditioning, heat, showers, restrooms, ceiling fans and water fountains for your comfort.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Harrison's stunning wooded campus provides all the wide open space and clean mountain air kids need to clear their minds and relax their bodies. Over half their waking hours are spent outdoors, enjoying land activities in the mornings and lakefront and water activities in the afternoons. Outside activities exert the body and the mind so campers go to bed tired and happy - but not before a few giggles break out next to the glow of campfire!
YMCA Camp Harrison provides a variety of adrenaline-pumping activities like the ropes course, mountain boarding and archery. Sometimes these activities require multiple tries to master, prompting campers to face fears head-on. The satisfied grins, exuberant fist pumps and cheers of teammates at the finish line encourage kids to try their luck at something else, face new situations with confidence, and configure solutions based on past experiences. Kids discover their competence and character when faced with adversity, and there are few feelings more satisfying than getting better at something. If you can get "big air" on the zip line, then maybe introducing yourself to a new person isn't so scary!
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: For rising sophomores, the LIT experience is designed to teach leadership skills including communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution. These skills are taught through many activities from discussions and team building challenges, to speakers and hands-on leadership opportunities; all the while emphasizing the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.
Our CIT program is geared towards learning the leadership and supervisory skills it takes to be a future part of the Camp Harrison Counselor Staff. Through interaction in our cabins, leading devotions, team building projects, and teaching activities, these rising juniors get hands on experience on what it means to be a leader at Camp.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial Assistance is offered to those who qualify and can subsidize 20-80% of the cost of camp for someone in need. If you are in need of a camp scholarship, please complete the forms on our website at: Our Camp Website Link: www.campharrison.org
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Camp Harrison operates from September to June as a retreat center and is an ideal site for groups to meet and enjoy the atmosphere of our lakeside property. We offer a wide range of facilities and program options to best serve you. Whether your goal is to use our accommodations to conduct your own programming or to call on our staff to lead selected activities for your group, our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

SOAR's programs are designed to allow students the opportunity to increase their independence while away from home. Independence is gained through self-motivation and life skills instruction. CAMP FACILITIES: Our 60-acre campus includes 4 bunkhouses, a comfortable dining hall, outdoor pool, gym, campfire circle, athletic fields, infirmary, and a canoe pond.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Talisman offers a variety of camp programs for kids with ADHD or on the autism spectrum, divided by age. Younger campers join one of our campus-based programs and join in traditional camp activities, from rock-climbing and hiking, to swimming, archery, and arts and crafts. Older campers choose from a number of expedition-based programs, including backpacking, canoeing, climbing and caving.
All staff receive over 2 weeks of training in both hard skills (First Aid, Lifeguarding, camping skills, bus driving) and soft skills (building relationships, problem-solving, understanding of our population, etc.). All staff receive a background check and drug screen, and go through a thorough interview and reference check process.
Talisman Programs has been ACA-accredited since 1988. We operate in the National Forests under permit. Staff leading more involved activities (e.g., rock climbing) hold certifications in facilitation and safety in those areas.
Talisman has been providing programs for special needs populations since 1980, refining our focus over the years to ADHD and autism. We believe every child wants to do well, and that each child has unique strengths, struggles, and outlooks on life. We use a variety of tools and approaches to meet each child where he or she is and help them meet their objectives in socially appropriate and fulfilling ways.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Teens ages 14-17 and young adults 18-22 can take our Leadership course to develop more advanced skills. Successful completion can lead to acceptance to our Krewe program, an on-campus job-skill-building session. This is an invitation-only program for returning campers who qualify.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Highlander first opened its gates in 1957 and we’ve never looked back. That’s over six decades worth of life-changing summers! We have 34 beautiful cabins sprinkled out across Old Forge Mountain. The cabins are located in defined girls camp and boys camp areas of camp. Each cabin is equipped with two sinks, two toilets and two showers.
From opening day to final farewells, our campers enjoy so many exciting activities with their cabin unit that it’s hard for them to choose a favorite. Whether they are playing soccer on the land sports field, conquering the climbing wall, tubing down the Mills River, trying their hand at flint-knapping, or performing on stage during Highlander’s famous Evening Programs, our campers learn to accomplish their goals, discover new talents and, perhaps most importantly, work as a team – all while exploring the spectacular mountains of Western North Carolina.
As a cabin unit, campers participate in many adventures together both on and off-camp. Our cabin unit structure helps each camper feel comfortable enough to step outside their comfort zone and try new things. With their cabin mates and counselors by their side every step of the way, campers meet each challenge and triumph with unbridled encouragement, support and love. Our goal is that each camper would discover just how courageous they can be while enjoying a journey filled with personal achievements and unforgettable memories.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: At Camp Highlander, we believe God has instilled in each one of us a desire to love and be loved. This is the motivation behind our mission — we love because God first loved us.
Through this love, we seek to build boys and girls of courage, honesty, integrity and faith, and to help them become all that God intends them to be. In all we do, from the social structure of camp to our programming, from opening day to closing day, we seek to uphold, promote, teach and exemplify these four core values.
Courage: Dare to be Brave
Courage is found within you and is realized through the support and love of those around you. Dare to be brave. Try new things. Stand by your friends.
Honesty: Speak Truth in Love
Be yourself. Honesty builds trust. Trust is the foundation of our family. Be kind to others; honesty is shown in our actions, not just our words. Speak truth in love to your neighbor.
Integrity: Respect Yourself, Others and Nature
Be strong. Integrity builds confidence. Lead by example. Win with integrity. Lose with integrity. Live a life of moral conviction, worthy of modeling.
Faith: Seek Truth and Believe
Never stop dreaming. Faith is the ability to receive, find and make meaning in our lives. Faith is being certain of what is not seen and sure of what we hope for.
Parents can choose an 8 day experience (Kick Off Camp), 13 days (Sessions A or B) or 16 days (Session C). We also have Family Camp options to help children acclimate to the idea of camp.
