CAMPER AGES: 12-17

TYPE OF CAMP: Overnight/Sleepaway. 1 Week Session

CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: YEA Camp is a life changing camp for world changing teens. Our week long overnight camps are for 12-17 year olds who want to make a difference in the world.

Founded in 2009, YEA believes that kids are naturally compassionate and want to make the world a better place. Whether they care about climate change, bulleying, homelessness, animale cruelty, gay rights, all of the above, or another important issue, Campers learn to take action to bring about the change they wish to see in the world.

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Academics, and more. Leadership Camp, Teaching Teenagers How To Make A Difference In The World.

CAMP LOCATION: YEA Camp New York is held at the renowned Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, in its new location---150 acres of woods, water and meeting facilities, about 90 minutes from New York City.

CAMP FACILITIES: We stay in modern, comfortable cabins with rooms and bunk beds for 6-8 campers. Each room has its own bathroom with sinks and showers.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. This week-long sleep-away program is designed to be a fun and transforming experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. YEA Camp New York will have two concurrent sessions! One session for teens with a variety of causes, and for the first time ever, a separate session for teens interested in animal activism (and what better location than a Farm Animal Sanctuary!).

Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues. Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

Our camps and programs are offered locally throughout over 500 communities. The format includes traditional week-long summer day camps and year-round after-school programs that range from 45 minutes to 6 hours in duration, per day. Our progression of camps and programs, led by our expert staff, are generated toward youth looking for a sport introduction or those who want to refine and master their sport-specific skills.

For Detailed Information on ALL of our summer sports camps, please visit our website at Our Camp Website Link: www.skyhawks.com.

Our coaches and site directors make a significant difference to your childs on-field experience. Chosen for their strong personal character, responsibility, and capacity to effectively communicate sports skills to youth, our staff will make the extra effort every time to ensure that your children have the best on-field/court experience, emphasize teamwork, and learn life skills through sports. Our staff are required to complete our extensive certification process.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Skyhawks Sports Camps are SAFETY FOCUSED!

At Skyhawks we go the extra mile to focus on safety, and we have a long-standing proven safety track record and processes to prove it. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called Gate System and Parking Lot Duty. This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.

Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harms way by funneling them into our gate system. Eye contact is maintained from each one of our staff members until the kids make it onto the field/court where they are grouped by age. This efficient process ensures safety. Additionally, it develops a level of trust between parent, coach, and child that ultimately leads to a fun and skill-focused camp for youth.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: LINX CAMPS VOTED ONE OF TOP 3 CAMPS IN METROWEST/BOSTON AREA BY BOSTON PARENTS PAPER!!! All levels of LINX theater camps continue our organization's tradition of large ensemble pieces that provide all performers with equal time on stage and, thereby, equal training to push their talents forward.

Performers are divided by age and each script is adapted to their senses of comedy and drama as well as the parents' sensibilities. Children also receive unique training in improvisation. All activities, including work on the show, are aimed at building performers' confidence and trust in their ideas, not just within the theater, but in life.

All Theater Camps are overseen by LINX's Theater Director, Todd Morse. Todd has 15 years experience instructing students all across the Boston area. He is an expert at making children a part of the acting process. LINX theater has grown up under his ideals of advancing performers through equal roles and using theater to build confidence on stage and off.

Youngest levels are Minors (K-1st grade) and Rookies (2nd - 3rd grade). These performers work on their show while enjoying various elements of a general camp experience. They also receive a swim period each day.

Performers in grades 4th - 8th have two options:
In LINX Theater, they can work on their show while enjoying various elements of a general camp experience. They also receive a swim period each day.

The second option is LX Theater in which the entire day is dedicated to performance. Their 'major' for the session is theater and they select a minor in another performance discipline such as dance, voice, or other elements of stage work such as improvisation and stage combat. These performers do have a swim option.

Performers who work with Todd during the summer never need to endure the stress of an audition for his upper level performance groups. Their summer experience serves as their audition and he will select the group that will provide them with more stress-free fun and learning.

The SavvySource recently listed LINX camps as one of the best camps in Boston. Read the article at Our Camp Website Link: www.linxcamps.com.

Parents of performers with disabilities are encouraged to call, join campus tours, meet with the director and determine that the camps will be fully enjoyable.

The opportunity to exchange cultural differences and participate in sports and other activities with peers from around the world is second to none.

Camp life and off campus activities are an integral part of the World Sports Camp experience. Developing new national and international friendships through sports and other camp activities, improves the quality of life for all involved. Fairness, quality sportsmanship and enforcement of rules and regulations are emphasized both on and off the playing field.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: C.I.T.'s (Camper In Training) This is a true leadership program at World Sports Camp. These campers must be 16 years of age and all but one period of each day, they will follow the normal camp schedule. During that one period, the CIT’s will shadow a coach to learn about the different coaching techniques. By the end of their stay at World Sports Camp, each CIT camper will develop a lesson for an entire period and will teach their lesson to the campers, as if they were the Head Coach!! They will have the help of the other coaches, but this will allow the CIT's to get out of their comfort zone and try something new.

As well, we have a dedicated CIT counselor who will evaluate each CIT at the end of each week to let each CIT know what they have done well and what needs improvement. In addition, because of their dedication and hard work we take all of the CIT's on a CIT trip. We allow the CIT’s to decide what this will be. For example, this past year, we went to mini-golf, laser tag, a movie and dinner off the campus as their trip of choice.

Their vast experience allows them to work with campers in a fun, game like environment that keeps them engaged and wanting more. When learning is fun, no one wants to stop. At the Academy's Soccer Skills Camp the phrase "Let's play" really means "Let's learn." The result is campers who truly love the game of soccer and play with all their heart.

It is a painstaking STEP-BY-STEP method. We must create for you a crystal-clear picture of what we are trying to teach through demonstration and explanation. You must understand clearly and be able to picture every little detail in your MIND’S EYE. Moreover, you then have to see yourself performing it successfully, and physically feel it and emotionally experience it.

The ultimate goal of self-teaching is INTERNALIZING MOTIVATION and knowing where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there step-by-step. We say you “FAIL YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS” because with this method, mistakes become your guidelines.

You will become a BETTER PLAYER. You will become a BETTER PERSON, as you will learn how to work toward the goals that you set for yourself.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Active Learning Services, Ltd operates enrichment programs designed to stimulate creative thinking, improve thinking, logic and memory skills and give children "thinking alternatives" to sports camps and other summer programs. Our programs include chess programs and camps thru USA Chess, Our Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Programs and our Active Learning Computer Enrichment Programs.

Our staff is, comprised of the best children's chess instructors in North America! The USA Chess camps are uniquely qualified to cater to the needs of the advanced scholastic player as well as the true beginner. USA Chess hit its first milestone in the summer of 2000 producing the largest chess camp ever held in the United States, with more than 250 students enrolled. What was most surprising, however, was the amount of absolute beginners in attendance - more than 50% of the total enrollment was just starting to play chess. This realization led to the national rollout tour of 100 camps in more than 70 cities. The annual tours have been immensely successful with several thousand campers attending this year alone.

USA Chess thrives on providing a structured environment that is extremely conducive to learning chess. We handpick the best children's chess instructors from all over the United States and bring them to each camp. We believe our team is most effective in teaching chess to children of all ages and levels. The exceptional organization and ever-fun curriculum has fueled much interest from scholastic players and coaches from around the country, prompting them to request USA Chess camps in their areas.

At the same summer camp locations, we also offer the immensely popular Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Camps, The Active Learning Computer Animation Programs, and other Computer Enrichment Programs such as Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft. We now offer seven unique programs in all.

At these camps, children are assigned a computer for the week; they spend the week learning to create their own one-of- a- kind video games in our Gamebuilder Camps, Animation Projects in our Animation Camps, also Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Wingate*Kirkland is a nurturing, coed, day and overnight camp where children are inspired and empowered with a choice of daily activities; indeed a traditional camp in many ways, staying true to old fashioned values. And like it was nearly 60 years ago, Camp W*K is not a “plugged in” camp. Children feel supported and confident to step out of their comfort-zone and try new things without the fear of failure. Camper safety, having fun, and developing life skills are our priorities. Camp W*K is also food allergy friendly and completely peanut, tree-nut and sesame free! The talented and dedicated staff have a wealth of experience mentoring children and focus on creating a warm and inclusive community that fosters respect for everyone.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Campers and their families are invited to join us at Family Camp for Memorial Day Weekend as our guests. Eat in the Dining Hall, participate in activities like tennis or softball, and even sleep in a bunk!

We strongly encourage families of first-time and veteran campers to join us. Members of the Camp W*K Staff will also be in attendance to lead Planning Session, offer periods and answer questions.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp W*K is Food Allergy Friendly and Peanut, Tree-nut and Sesame Free

In addition to being completely nut and sesame free, we easily accommodate gluten-free, dairy, wheat, soy, egg, and fish allergies. Vegans or Vegetarians also appreciate our menu options. Our chef uses only fresh ingredients, cooks and bakes from scratch, and ensures there is no cross-contamination of food products. We partner with our families in ensuring that all food sent to Camp is ingredient-checked before being sent to the bunk. This includes food items made with sesame or peanut oil and/or produced in a factory that uses sesame or nuts. The safety and well being of everyone at camp is our priority. In the event of any emergency, we are within five-to-seven minutes of the nearest hospital.
