BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Harwood Art Center, located in downtown Albuquerque, offers a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural Summer Art Camp for youth in grades 1-9. Summer Art Camp offers four two-week sessions throughout June and July with full and half day options each session. At camp, students immerse themselves in the arts with a small group of inspired peers and accomplished instructors. They experience a range of exciting activities in a positive, supportive atmosphere. From sculpture, painting, and printmaking to theater, music, and new media, imaginations are unleashed!
Summer Art Camp opens doors to new experiences and creative innovation, engaging students in the visual and performing arts. It is an adventure children will remember for years to come! CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Dance, Theater, Music/Band, Fine Arts/Crafts, Video/Filmmaking/Photography, and more.
CAMP LOCATION: Harwood Summer Art Camp is located at 1114 7th St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. We are just north of Downtown Albuquerque on Mountain Rd. and 7th Street. We are within walking distance from Old Town, The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History, Explora Science Center, and The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science.
CAMP FACILITIES: Activities take place in Escuela del Sol Montessori and Harwood’s classrooms, theater and dance studio housed in our historic building.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Harwood Art Center, located in downtown Albuquerque, offers multi-disciplinary Summer Art Camp for youth entering grades 1-9. Since 1996, Harwood’s summer programing has fostered creativity and curiosity in young artists of all skill levels.
At Harwood Summer Art Camp, campers in grades 1 - 9 will immerse themselves in the arts with a group of inspired peers and accomplished instructors. They will experience a range of exciting activities in a positive, supportive atmosphere. From ceramics and painting, to theater and music, imaginations are unleashed. Our Teaching Artists and Guides share our commitment to lifelong learning and creative expression, and they all have experience working with children. Our Teaching Artists are accomplished in their diverse fields and maintain professional artistic careers. Teaching Artists and / or Guides are present throughout all activities, providing enrichment, support and supervision at all times.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Harwood Art Center is committed to ensuring that every child who has a desire to attend Summer Art Camp is able to do so without financial barriers. We are proud to be able to offer scholarships to campers that demonstrate need though the generosity of Marble Brewery, A Good Sign and private donations..
The deadline to apply for Summer Art Camp 2017 financial support is Monday, May 1, 2017.

Register your child for Summer Art Camp, Pay a $100 deposit per session (this deposit is refundable if for some reason we are unable to provide support), Submit a signed one page written request explaining why and how much financial support is needed, Mail or email signed letter to Drew Kirkpatrick, Arts Education Coordinator

(no camp Monday & Tuesday, July 3 & 4)

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
We hire a large group of Teaching Artists and Guides / Counselors to run our camp each summer. We typically post a call for applications November - January each year to hire for the following summer.
